On Thursday, 24 April 2025, the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) Commander, Brigadier Maphoto, took decisive action in the pursuit of justice by personally overseeing the capture of a wanted suspect linked to two (2) counts of murder and three (3) counts of attempted murder, stemming from a case reported at Nigel SAPS in March 2025.
The 26-year-old suspect, who has been positively identified, was traced from Nigel to Boksburg through the dedicated efforts of the AGU, in collaboration with the Department of Correctional Services and valuable intelligence provided by an informer.
Brigadier Maphoto commended these collaborative efforts, highlighting the importance of teamwork in combating crime.
“The rapid response and strategic takedown by our AGU team exemplifies our commitment to keeping our communities safe,” said Brigadier Maphoto. “This operation underscores the effectiveness of our partnerships and the critical role of community involvement in addressing crime.”
The suspect was informed of the charges against him during the arrest and is currently detained at a local police station. He is expected to appear before the respective court soon.
The AGU remains steadfast in its mission to dismantle gang-related activities and ensure that those who threaten the safety of our communities are brought to justice.
