SAPS cracks down on drugs and illegal firearms in Tlokoeng

On 24 April 2025 at 15:00, members of the SAPS Detective Service achieved a breakthrough in combating drug dealing and the proliferation of illegal firearms in the Katlehong locality.

While following up on information regarding a wanted suspect, officers spotted the 34-year-old suspect walking with a friend. Upon searching him, they discovered 26 sachets of tik and a sum of cash in his possession. He was immediately arrested for drug possession.

Further investigation led to the search of his companion, a 37-year-old man, who was found carrying an unlicensed 9mm pistol and ammunition in his bag. He was subsequently arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear before the Tlokoeng Magistrate’s Court on 29 April 2025.

Joe Gqabi District Commissioner, Major General Lindelwa Vellem, praised the officers for their vigilance, emphasizing that such arrests send a strong message that drug and firearm-related crimes will not be tolerated in the community.
