The house of an elderly couple from Oslo Beach near Port Shesptone, has been guttered, but fortunately they have escaped from their house after it caught alight earlier this morning.
The couple were reportedly in the house when the fire started. They managed to safely escape from the burning house, which was severely damaged by the raging fire.
Emergency services including the police, Hibiscus Coast Fire department and paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services, responded to the fire.
The fire fighters managed to bring the fire under control. However sadly the fire had caused massive damage to the building. Paramedics examined the elderly man, but he decided that he did not wish to go to hospital.
Sadly the family’s dog was injured and was rushed to the vet, where it continues to receive treatment.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage and authorities will investigate.
