A collision occurred in the centre of Pietermaritzburg late last night involving a taxi and a truck. The traffic in the aftermath of the Comrades marathon left the town with intense traffic, making people use alternative roads through the city centre, which congested the roads of Pietermaritzburg.
Allegedly a taxi rear-ended a truck which resulted in 15 people from the taxi sustaining injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The driver of the truck fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
ER24 paramedics treated and transported a total of ten patients to Northdale Hospital for further treatment. The other five patients were transported by other services.
The cause of the collision still remains unknown.
