Earlier this afternoon, paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services responded to a crash on the N2 Near Pongola, in northern KZN.
The crash reportedly involved a truck and at least six other vehicles. The incident occurred on the N2 highway about eight kilometres from Pongola.
Sadly, a man aged about 40 years old has passed away during the crash. It is believed that he was an occupant of one of the vehicles that was hit by the truck. It is alleged that while the truck was still approaching, he apparently left his vehicle in an attempt to get away. However, he was allegedly hit by a vehicle that had just been struck by the truck.
Paramedics assessed at least seven other people at the scene but found that they had not been injured.
The exact cause of the crash is not known.
