A man in his 30th was killed this afternoon in an explosion at a company on Gram Road in Middelburg.
ER24 paramedics received the emergency call and immediately responded to the scene.
On arrival, paramedics found the lifeless body of a man lying roughly 30 metres away from a large tipper truck.
On assessment, paramedics found that the man had already succumbed to his fatal burn wounds. Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene.
It is understood that the man had been working on the back of the truck when the explosion occurred. He had apparently been using a grinder on the back of the vehicle.
