A woman in her 20s was killed this evening after an apparent shooting incident on the N3 Highway near Townhill in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 paramedics, along with another service, responded to the scene after receiving reports of a motor vehicle collision.
On arrival, paramedics found a light motor vehicle up against a the roadside barrier. A number of what is believed to be bullet holes were discovered in the vehicle.
Paramedics assessed the driver, who was found slumped into the passenger seat. She was found with a wound to her head. Unfortunately, there was nothing more that could be done and she was declared dead.
The details surrounding the incident are subject to the investigation of local authorities.
