A forty seven year old man is in a serious condition at a local hospital in Pietermaritzburg after been hijacked this morning near his residence in Copesville while on his way to work.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found that the man had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper left thigh and was in severe pain. Fluid was given through a drip due to blood loss and analgesic medication was administrated to help with the pain before he was transported by ambulance to hospital.
The patient was believed to be on his way to work and was only a few meters away from his house when he was approached by two suspects. They demanded his car and then shot him. The man was able to walk back to his house before calling for help.
The necessary authorities will be investigating the incident further.
