A 3-year-old boy sustained moderate injuries after he fell out of a moving taxi in Conniston – Verulam a short while ago.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after receiving multiple calls from the public requesting medical assistance for the child. Upon arrival it was established that the Toyota Hiace taxi (picture 3) was in the process of dropping of school children in the area when the sliding door opened while the vehicle cornered a bend. The incident occurred approx 1.5 kilometers from King Shaka International Airport and alongside the R102 southbound lane.
The child who is attending preschool at Dianthus Primary in Brindhaven then fell out of the moving taxi. A vehicle traveling behind the taxi swerved to avoid running over the child.
Medics treated the boy for his injuries before transporting him Victoria Hospital.
