Members of Reaction Unit South Africa who apprehended a 17-year male outside a high school in Verulam for suspected drug dealing was informed by teachers that the suspect had threatened to rape a student.
At approx 08:45 Reactions Officers were called out to a secondary school on Russom Street – Verulam after teachers reported that a suspicious Indian male who sat outside the school gates daily, was peddling drugs to students. Further information was received that the male who is a Mt View resident was also supplying drugs to motorists who stopped at the school. According to teachers, he was seen on several occasion handing over wrappings to motorist & collecting cash.
While escorting the suspect to the school, a teacher was informed that the male had threatened to rape a female student. During an interview, the suspect informed Officers that he was a student at another high school in Brindhaven – Verulam & that he was not allowed back at his school because the principal had found his hairstyle unacceptable. The principal was contacted & he informed Officers that the student was given a transfer out of the school because of drug peddling.
Reaction Officers searched the bush and could not recover the drugs.
