In the early hours of this morning at 01:00, the KwaMsane Tactical Response Team, conducted an operation as Sabhuza area, KwaMbonambi. While the members were busy they received an intelligence driven information about the suspect in possession of an unlicensed firearm. The members went to the house where they recovered a shotgun with 25 ammunitions. A 63-year-old suspect was then placed under arrest.
A case of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition was registered at KwaMbonambi SAPS. The suspect is appearing today in the KwaMbonambi Magistrates’ Court today. The recovered firearm will be taken to ballistics to ascertain if it was used in the commission of any offence in the country.
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa, commended the members for apprehension of the suspects and the recovery of an unlicensed firearms. “Such operations will continue throughout the KZN province,” he said.
