The Acting Cluster Commander of Makhado, Colonel Mukwevho, accompanied by all the Station Commanders and members from different Units, started the programme of the day by conducting an awareness campaign at Eltivillas Primary school where Colonel Mukwevho addressed the learners on bullying, use of drug, sexual assault, theft and their safety in general.
Part two of the event continued with all participants wearing colourful and different traditional attires, which was held at The House of Grace Church in Eltivillas, Louis Trichardt. The Deputy Cluster Commander, who is the Makhado Cluster Men For Change Champion, was joined by Colonel Nyelisani Mabatha, the Makhado Cluster Women’s Network Champion, all station commanders, police act and public service act members, women from other Government Departments like Home Affairs, Labour, SASSA and the Municipal Traffic. They were addressed by different stakeholders about issues relating to Business Empowerment and Financial management.
A Domestic Violence survivor, encouraged members on breaking the silence and shared her first-hand experience on physical and emotional abuse she went through.
Colonel Mabatha outlined the principles of the Women’s Network and its Objectives. She further encouraged all women to continue working together in harmony, respecting one another. Her emphasis was on education and that Women must continue empowering themselves. Colonel Mukwevho encouraged men to continue being part of this marvellous transformation at work places and continue to collaborate with Women’s Network. He said this will also promote openness in the workplace and men will also be able to voice their challenges openly.
