One worker was critically injured while nine others sustained serious injuries when the tuck they were traveling on overturned on the R 17 near Wits Rifles drive in Germiston this morning .It is suggested that the truck had a blow-out on the left back wheel causing the driver to loose control.
When the vehicle overturned the workers and tools were ejected from the truck and littered the highway. Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene and found the 10 workers lying on the roadway near the remains of their vehicle. One of the workers was in a critical condition while 9 others had sustained serious injuries.
Paramedics from several services worked ardently to stabilise all the wounded. All the patients were transported to the Netcare Union and Netcare Sunward Park hospitals for further medical treatment.
