Stolen cell tower batteries and solar panels were recovered and a 41-year-old male arrested on N2.
At 15:30, a bus with trailer was stopped and searched by Kinkelbos police on the N2 outgoing from Port Elizabeth close to Colchester. In the bus luggage compartment four (4) suspected stolen solar panels were discovered. A further thirteen (13) cell tower batteries were found after a search of the trailer. The value of the goods are estimated to be over R100 000 and is suspected to be stolen from the Nelson Mandela Bay and Rocklands areas.
The 41-year-old suspect also attempted to bribe the arresting official on the scene by offering more than R17 000-00. He will be appearing before the Alexandria Magistrates Court tomorrow 26 October on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and corruption.
