In an intelligence led operation, a 49-year-old man was arrested by the National Intervention Unit (NIU) on Saturday morning, 3 November 2018. At about 11:30, the NIU members swooped in at a house in Ralton Street in Sidwell. Upon searching the place, police seized 7 large plastic bags (6,468 kg) of dagga; 175 (5.78g) rolls of dagga; 62 mandrax tablets; 17 half boss mandrax tablets and R 5 285 of cash. The estimated value of the drugs is R10 000. The arrested person will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 5 November 2018 on a charge of dealing in drugs.
