On Friday 2018-12-21 in the early morning hours the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) members were doing foot patrols in the Elsies River area after a number of shooting incidents during the night.
Whilst doing foot patrols between the flats at Akker Court, Avonwood, Elsies River members saw a person who was running after spotting the police. Police members responded promptly and arrested a 23-year-old suspect in possession of a black 9mm pistol and seven 9mm rounds which was recovered after being searched by police. The suspect is believed to be a member of a gang.
A case of illegal possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition will be investigated and the suspect will appear in court on Monday 2018-12-24.
