One person has been seriously injured and six others moderately injured in an accident on Impala Drive in Chatsworth just before 6pm this evening.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on scene to find a taxi and light delivery vehicle had collided in a head on format before the light delivery vehicle was pushed against a gate. The driver of the light delivery vehicle was severely entrapped in his vehicle and the Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other Hydraulic equipment to try free the patient from the wreckage while Rescue Care Advanced Life Support Paramedics stabilised him in the vehicle.
Once free, he was loaded into a waiting Ambulance and transported to a nearby Durban Hospital for the further treatment that he required. Six others sustained moderate injuries and were stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital.
At this stage the events leading up to the collision are unknown however SAPS was on scene and will be investigating further.
