Pretoria: A 35-year-old woman was arrested yesterday, 31 January 2019 at the O R Tambo International Airport after she was found with approximately R600 000 worth of drugs.
During an intelligence driven operation, the multi-disciplinary narcotics team at O R Tambo International Airport, a passenger was identified and she and her luggage were searched. A body search by members of Customs and Excise initially revealed she had concealed drugs in a body wrap around her waist. The suspect was arrested and then also sent for x-rays. The x-rays further revealed that she had swallowed foreign objects. Those objects comprised of multiple “bullets” containing drugs with an estimated street value of ±R181 000.00
The suspect will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s court facing charges of dealing in drugs on Monday, 04 February 2019.
