A father and son had a narrow escape this morning after the light aircraft the father was flying had to do and emergency landing in to a farm near Laboria.
ER24 received the call via the National Call centre on 084 124, for a light aircraft that had crashed landed onto a make shift island in a dam on the farm. Once the paramedics arrived on the scene they found the plane on its belly. The pilot was standing outside the plane with a young boy lying on the wing. The ER24 paramedics had to shout to the pilot for a telephone number so they could have better communication. Once communication was made it was found that the pilot was the father aged thirty eight and the son aged five were both fine.
SAPS rescue were called to the scene to help assist the rescue and help get to the two patients. Both patients were assessed and treated for possible neck and back injuries, while the little boy was also treated for a possible broken leg. They were taken back to carefully to the waiting ambulance where they were transported to hospital for further medical care.
It is unclear what caused the father to have trouble with the plane but the local authorities will have to investigate the accident further.
