Members of Upington Social Crime Prevention and Sector Policing were busy with a door to door rape awareness in Dakotaweg on Tuesday, 09 February 2020 when they received information about a burglary that occurred. The neighbours gave the description of the suspects and also indicated that the owner of the house still at work.
The two members, Warrant Officer Jerry Meyer and Warrant Officer Selwyn Van Wyk followed up on the information whereby two men were arrested for burglary. They continued with the investigation which led to an arrest of the third suspect for possession of the stolen property to the value of R5000.00. The owner of the house positively identified the stolen goods as his property.
The Acting Station Commander of Upington SAPS, Colonel Gert Jobs commended the members for the swift response and urged the community to look out for one another and their properties.
