Detectives in Kroonstad are looking for victims of a fake Attorney who defrauded a number of clients.
They are pleading with residents staying in and around the city, to be in contact with them if they were once clients of the Attorney named Ernest Mpho Sejake.
The suspect who was once working for a Law Firm with offices in Brand Street, Kroonstad CBD was arrested after it was discovered that he was illegally practicing as an Attorney and defrauding people.
This is after one client was defrauded of more than R25 000-00 by the suspect acting as his legal representative in court on a Bond case.
The victim went to the police after she could not get hold of him. Further investigations discovered that the suspect was not registered as an Attorney and is also not registered with the Legal fraternity.
The suspect was not having an office and was targeting victims who went to court. More and more people came forward opening cases of fraud and theft after they paid money for his legal representation.
Police are pleading to anyone who might have paid Mr Ernest Mpho Sejake to contact Detective Sergeant Tebogo Ratlhagana on 079 234 0342 or contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
The suspect (33) was arrested and is remanded in custody for further investigations. He will appear in Kroonstad Magistrate court on the 3 May 2021.
