Police in Douglas arrested a suspect with a total of 150 units of Mandrax. Information was operationalised subsequent to an alert regarding a commuter in possession of Mandrax tablets travelling in a taxi from Kimberley to Douglas.
The alleged taxi was pulled off, as it was approaching Douglas and the commuters were searched. Upon searching the suspect, police found 150 Mandrax tablets in his possession.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Douglas Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 May 2021 on a count of possession of Mandrax.
The Northern Cape Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Brig Reggie Motabogi commended community members for sharing information which led to the arrest of the suspect, and hailed Douglas police officers for acting promptly to the information.
