Nelson Mandela Bay District Detective Trio Task team members performing special operations arrested four alleged armed robbery suspects about 90 minutes after a shop owner was robbed while offloading groceries from his bakkie yesterday afternoon, 23 July 2021 in Motherwell.
It is alleged that at about 12:00, the complainant (38) was offloading the groceries for his shop in Mgwangqa Street in NU6 in Motherwell when a silver Opel Corsa bakkie with no registration plates stopped next to him. Four unknown males got out and pointed him with firearms. He was instructed to load the groceries into their bakkie. The suspects drove with the stolen groceries. The estimated value is about R8000-00.
At about 13:15, while the detective members were patrolling in Dano Street in Izinyoka area, they spotted the Corsa bakkie fitting the description as given by the complainant. Four males were busy offloading groceries from an Opel Corsa hatchback. The vehicle had no registration plates. The groceries were taken inside the house. When the suspects saw the police detectives in uniform, they started to run away. They were chased on foot and four suspects were apprehended.
