A 29-year-old man was shot during a scuffle after he confronted suspects who were attempting to steal his bakkie Commercial Road in Burbreeze, Tongaat.
Residents in the area contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Tongaat Operations Center at approximately 01:19 and reported the shooting. On arrival, Reaction Officers were informed that the victim was confronted by two or three suspects after he exited his home to investigate an alarm activation on his bakkie. A scuffle ensued when two shots were fired. The victim was allegedly struck by one of the bullets and was rushed to hospital privately prior to the arrival of First Responders.
The suspects fled without stealing the bakkie.
