A 57yr old man is in a serious condition after he sustained multiple bite wounds after three dogs attacked him on Fairfield Road in Northdene just outside Pinetown this morning.
ER24 paramedics received the call and rushed out to the scene and found the man lying in the road and surrounded by members of the public who were trying to calm him down. Paramedics assessed the patient and found he had suffered massive traumatic injuries to his left arm and he had sustained bite marks to his face and right leg. Advanced Life Support intervention had to be performed on the patient while he was stabilised further. He was transported to R K Khans Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
It is believed that the man had stopped on the side of the road in the residential area and had just climbed out when he was attacked by the three dogs that had escaped from the yard close by. When emergency personnel arrived on the scene the dogs had being locked away inside the house.
Malvern SAPS were on scene and would investigate the incident further.
