With serious and violent crimes high on our priority list, members of Woodstock police were quick to react to the information of a suspicious armed individual at the Masekane informal settlement in Woodstock yesterday morning.
The area was searched and the 33-year-old male residing in Woodstock was apprehended in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol without a serial number and ammunition. Once charged, he is expected to make his court appearance in Cape Town to face the charges against him.
During an unrelated police intervention yesterday afternoon, members of the Provincial Extortion Task Team arrested a 58-year-old man on a charge of dealing in drugs in Langa. The team received a tipoff that the suspects used a fruit and veg stand in Bhunga Avenue to trade in his contraband. The stall was searched and a variety of drugs and cash believed to be the proceeds of crime were seized. The suspect will make his court appearance in Bishop Lavis once he has been charged.
