A woman in her late 40’s has been severely injured after an alleged dog attack in the suburb of Kensington in Johannesburg South this morning.
The woman was walking on Clacton Road when the large dog is believed to have jumped on top of her, biting her first on her left shoulder. The woman fell to the ground and the dog allegedly dragged her a short distance before biting her again on her left calf. At this time it is not known how the dog came to leave the woman alone after severely injuring her, but when paramedics arrived she required immediate treatment. She was in a great deal of pain and her calf on the left had a notable amount of deep cuts and tears.
The woman was transported to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for further treatment in a stable.
The dogs owner allegedly said that this is the first incident where the dog attacked a person, and also stated that a group of children walking past the residence tease the dog on a regular basis.
What will happen to the dog is unclear, but the necessary investigations will take place.
