In accelerated efforts to clamp down on crime, the Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe allocated high-performance motorbikes to dedicated officers from various Police Stations across the province.
The members will ultimately form part of the development of a Motor Cycle Unit in the Province, which will increase the effectiveness of Police during the pursuit of suspects.
Four new BMW RT 1250 motorbikes have been purchased for use in various SAPS operational actions which include the following:
-Visible Policing (Vispol) operations;
-During crime prevention Imbizos;
– To be utilized for highway patrols during holiday seasons.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said that these motorbikes will assist our members through special assignments, and targeted patrols and; increase overall flexibility and maneuverability. She further urged members to use the motorbikes for their intended purpose to enable the Police to make significant progress in the fight against crime.
