Seen in these pictures are a team of Reaction Officers searching an open veld in Ntshawini – KwaDukuza (Stanger) for the remains of seven seven-year-old Philasande Shange.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) despatched a Helicopter to assist the family to locate the remains after they had consulted two Traditional Healers.
The child’s head and leg was recovered several days ago.
Reaction Officers equipped with shovels and picks drove out with a 4×4 Rescue Vehicle to the veld at approx 17:00
(Monday) after the Pilot identified specific locations that appeared disturbed/unnatural during the arial search.
These GPS coordinates were recorded by the Helicopter Crew and provided to the team. The missing body parts of Philasande Shange have not been recovered and the search was abandoned at sunset.
The search will resume at first light.
