A 36-year-old male suspect appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court for dealing in dagga yesterday, Wednesday 03 May 2023.
His appearance came after his arrest on Tuesday, 02 May 2023 at Mzinti near Tonga. Police reportedly received a tip-off about a suspect who was driving a white Light Delivery Vehicle fully loaded with dagga.
Police responded swiftly to the tip-off and the suspect who is believed to be from Kamaqhekeza was found driving in the residential area at Mzinti with the vehicle that matched the given description.
Within a short space of time, the vehicle was stopped, searched and stuffed dagga rolls weighing about 123, 838 kilograms with an estimated street value of around R185 757-00 was reportedly found inside.
He was arrested and charged for dealing in dagga and the vehicle he was using was also confiscated for further investigation.
Vusi Nkalanga (36) was granted a bail of R3000-00 during his court appearance. He is expected to appear again in the same court on 03 July 2023.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela welcomed the arrest even though the General raised serious concerns regarding recurring incidents of drug trafficking in the province.
