On Saturday 16 September 2023 at 10:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers and members from the Hawks, arrested one (1) male suspect for possession of threatened species.
A joint operation was conducted by both stakeholders, where Officers proceeded to a residence on Trichard Road, where a thirty (30) year old male was found with a live Pangolin , valued at a hundred and forty thousand rands (R140 000).
The suspect was arrested and charges of possession of threatened species (Pangolin) under National Environmental Management Biodiversity act 10/2004, were registered. He is expected to appear at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
