Two serious accidents around the same time this evening happened in Boksburg and Sasolburg.
The first accident happened on Ridge Road in Boksburg, where a young man was sadly killed. He was traveling on a motorbike when he suddenly crashed into the back of a car traveling on the same road. He was flung from the bike and was found by paramedics lying in the road. He had sustained severe injuries and immediate Advanced Life Support intervention was performed.
Resuscitation efforts were performed, but a while later he succumbed to his injuries and there was nothing further that could be done for him. The young man in his mid 20’s was declared deceased by paramedics.
The man’s family had arrived on scene and paramedics had the difficult task in telling his loved ones that he did not survived. The distraught family left the scene privately.
The motorist was not injured in the accident.
Shortly after that, paramedics from the Vaal were dispatched to an accident on the R59 in Sasolburg, a stretch of road notorious for serious accidents. When they arrived, it was expected that injuries to anyone that had been in the car would have been extensive, as the whole back and left side of the vehicle seemed to have been ripped off. The rear seats of the sedan were lying a short way away, as well as debris from the vehicle covering a wide part of the road.
What seemed to have happened, is that a large cargo truck had collided with the sedan, and the truck had stopped a way down the road. The actual cause of the accident will need to be investigated.
Miraculously, the driver and only occupant of the vehicle had suffered moderate injuries only, and needed treatment for multiple abrasions to his face and arms. Fortunately he had been the only occupant of the vehicle otherwise the accident could have been a lot more severe or even fatal.
