A hijacked vehicle was swiftly recovered and one person was apprehended after a shootout with the police.
On Saturday 14 October 2023 at about 04:28, Bloemfontein Flying Squad members received information about a hijacked Toyota Rumion vehicle in Khomo Street in the Roklands area.
Members continued with patrols and the vehicle was spotted in the Phomolong area near Phase 7. The team swiftly responded to information and rushed to the location. The vehicle fitting the description was spotted and upon seeing police, the driver sped off.
A chase ensued and the suspects lost control of the vehicle, which came to a standstill after a brief shootout. One suspect, aged 28 was arrested for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle. The other suspects fled the scene.
