Chatsworth Police have arrested five suspects in connection with two murders that were committed in the policing precinct over the weekend.
It is alleged that during the early hours of 28 October 2023, a 51-year-old victim was consuming alcohol when he was fatally shot at the Bottelbrush Informal Settlement. Two suspects were arrested by Police during which firearm (serial number erased) and ammunition were seized. The firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to establish if it was used in the commission of other crimes. The suspects, aged 28 and 31, appeared before the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court today on charges of murder and for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
In a separate case of murder which occurred on 29 October 2023, three suspects aged between 22 and 28 were arrested at the scene at the Lusaka Informal Settlement. It is alleged that a victim was stabbed several times by perpetrators who were known to the deceased. The accused will appear in due course at the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court.
