A 40 year old woman was injured after she was stabbed with an umbrella during a robbery in Verulam – KZN.
The victim and her 32 year old work colleague were walking on Todd Street when they were confronted by two men. Without warning, one of the suspects began assaulting them with a wooden plank while his accomplice grabbed one of the victims handbag. Both woman fought back in an attempt prevent the robbery.
During the altercation, one of the suspects deprived the 40 year old of her umbrella and stabbed her with the sharpened edge on her foot. The men thereafter fled with a handbag. The female sustained a deep laceration to her right foot.
She was treated on scene by Paramedics from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) who arrived on scene at approximately 08:22 before being transported to a medical facility for further care.
