A man appearing to be in his 20’s has been killed in an accident after being ejected from a taxi on the N1 at the Allandale Road off ramp.
The impact between a truck, taxi and two cars caused the front of the taxi to be so severely damaged, and the man was flung from the vehicle on impact. He was found lying in the road, having sustained such severe injuries that the first assessments by paramedics revealed that the man had already succumbed to his injuries and there was nothing more that they could do for him. He was later declared dead at the scene.
Fortunately, no one else had been injured in the accident, and after assessments by paramedics, all of the patients decided that they would not need to go to hospital for further care. They would go privately at a later stage if the need arose.
Traffic was severely affected by the accident, as three lanes had to be closed. Police who attended the scene will conduct their necessary investigations into the cause of the accident.
