Five people, including a fourteen year old boy sustained several injuries when a Toyota Quantum and a BMW collided with each other on the R31.
Paramedics from ER24 responded about 45 kilometers outside of the town where they found the two vehicles with severe damage. A fourteen year old boy was found trapped inside of the BMW with multiple fractures. Emergency rescue workers struggled almost two hours to free the boy from the wreckage.
Once freed, paramedics were able to further treat and stabilize the boy before rushing him off to Mediclinic Kimberley. Four other people sustained minor to moderate injuries and was treated on the scene before being transported to hospital.
The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
