Police members attached to Operation Shanela deployed in the Western Cape to combat the ongoing serious and violent crimes as well as the illegal dealing in drugs arrested two suspects in isolated incidents.
Police members of Operation Shanela conducted high-density patrols in Lwandle policing precinct on Friday 01 November 2024 when they entered an address in Linda Street at around 18:30. They searched the premises and seized a total of 1474 mandrax tablets and detained a 29-year-old Nigerian national for dealing in drugs.
Meanwhile police deployed in Mitchells Plain monitored suspicious activities at a premises in Du Toitskloof Street in Tafelsig. The members entered the premises to the surprise of the occupants. They searched the occupants as well as the premises and recovered 54 mandrax tablets, 17 half mandrax tablets, 49 sachets filled with methamphetamine and cash. They detained a 27-year-old man for dealing in drugs.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Strand and Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ courts on the mentioned charges.
