Members attached to the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit continue to make great strides in getting drugs off the streets after two males aged (23) and (35) were arrested for possession of drugs in two separate incidents yesterday, 6 November 2024, in Welkom.
It is reported that on Wednesday, 06 November 2024, members of Welkom AGU led by Sergeant Thabang Thesele were conducting crime-combating duties when they received information from a source about a vehicle that is transporting drugs to Flamingo Park, Welkom. A vehicle matching the given description was spotted and pulled off. A search was conducted and a 23-year-old male driver was searched and found to be in possession of drugs. He was subsequently arrested for possession of Mandrax tablets.
In a separate incident, while patrolling in the Welkom Industrial Area, members spotted a suspicious Toyota Corolla parked near a petrol station. The vehicle was approached and a search was conducted. A 35-year-old male driver was immediately arrested after being found in possession of drugs.
The suspects will soon appear in court.
