Safer Festive Season operations, in its objective to create a safe environment for all inhabitants and visitors in our Province, yielded success when police members disarmed suspects.
In the earlier hours of Tuesday morning, 12 November 2024, members of Public Order Police searched a premises in Cobia Street, Summerville and arrested a 32-year-old man for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. They confiscated two pistols and 51 rounds of ammunition that were found in the house.
In an unrelated matter members of Kraaifontein Crime Prevention Unit arrested an adult male when they searched him during stop and search operations in Wallacedene on Monday evening and found him in possession of a pistol with ammunition. He faces charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Furthermore, members of the Maitland Flying Squad followed up information in Bishop Lavis about a firearm at a premises. During a search of the premises, members confiscated a pistol with ammunition. Two suspects age 48 and 51 were arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Blue Downs and Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Courts once they have been charged.
