The Gauteng Acting Provincial Commissioner, Maj Gen Fred Kekana, led yet another successful multidisciplinary high-density Operation Shanela Safer Festive Season in London Road, Alexandra, last night where at a roadblock, 23 people were arrested for drunk and driving while 75 illegal immigrants were apprehended, 13 were for drinking in public.
14 Spaza shops were visited, led by Environment Health inspectors. Fines were issued for non-compliance (unhygienic conditions). Furthermore, police closed down three liquor outlets and arrested owners for not complying with the Liquor Act.
This operation demonstrates the SAPS commitment to addressing criminal activity, ensuring public safety, and enforcing compliance with regulations in our communities.
