Seen in this video is the Helicopter Pilot from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) using the aircrafts rotor wash in an attempt to flush out an armed gang hiding along the river.
The aircraft was called out to assist after a motorist spotted the armed gang three (3) hours after they had attacked a first victim who was parked at the single lane steel bridge leading to the Verulam CBD in Kwazulu Natal. The gang of four (4) are armed with a sickle & knives and attacked the motorist by smashing the vehicle glass with a brick. It could not be confirmed of they were armed with firearms.
The RUSA Helicopter was activated in an attempt to capture the gang before they struck again. The area was surrounded by Reaction Officers based on information provided by a witness that the gang had entered the river and were possibly hiding between the reeds. The extensive foot & arial search was unsuccessful.
The public is warned to be on high alert in the vicinity.
