One man has sustained serious injuries this afternoon following a single vehicle accident on the Bethal road near Middelburg.
The exact events leading up to the incident is unclear, but it seems as if the Toyota passenger vehicle, the man was driving at the time of the accident, had veered out of control before leaving the road and overturning multiple times.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the man already removed from the wrecked vehicle. Paramedics then assessed the patient and found him to have sustained serious injuries to his head and face as well as suspected back and neck injuries.
The man received Advanced Life Support treatment at the scene before being rapidly transported to the Middelburg provincial hospital for further care. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
