[HILLCREST, KZN – 02 SEPTEMBER 2012 AT 19H45]
Eight teenagers aged between thirteen and eighteen have sustained minor to moderate injuries after the taxi they were travelling in was hit by a bakkie travelling in the opposite direction on Fisher Road heading towards Inanda Dam this evening.
ER24 paramedics from Hillcrest and Westville arrived on the scene and found the taxi just off to the side of the road with the bakkie a few meters away. Both vehicles had extensive damage to the front of them. Paramedics assessed the patient and found that the passengers from the taxi were the only ones hurt in the accident. They had suffered minor cuts and abrasions and general body pains. They were transported to St Mary’s Hospital for further medical care.
It is believed that the teenagers were on their way home from a traditional reed ceremony when the incident occurred. The driver of the bakkie was unharmed in the accident. The local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
