The MEC for the Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport (CSR&T) Mr Jabu Mbalula attended the funeral service of a South African National Defense Force (SANDF) soldier Mr Mokete Joseph Mobe, today, on 22 February 2025 at Botshabelo Stadium.
Mr Mobe, a 24 year-old soldier was killed last month in a crossfire between M23 rebels and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) army forces. The South African nation particularly the people of Free State had high hopes for Mr Mobe’s career given his young age.
He was honoured with a dignified funeral service where family, friends, community and colleagues were gathered in numbers to mourn and pay their final tribute.
In support of the fallen hero’s family were the Premier of the Free State, MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae, Deputy Minister of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Seiso Mohai and senior managers from the SANDF.
Mr Mobe was laid to rest in Botshabelo Cemetery.
