A sought after robbery suspect was arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in the Verulam CBD – KZN this morning (Monday).
Two (2) males responsible for robbing a pedestrian on Todd Street in March 2025, were spotted by the victim in the Verulam CBD – KZN this morning. He contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 08:01 for assistance while monitoring both males. The caller believed that the suspects were scouting their next victim.
Reaction Officers responding to provide assistance noticed the two (2) males splitting up and fleeing in different directions. One (1) suspect was apprehended after a brief foot chase while his accomplice fled into a bush along the R102. An extensive search was conducted for him, however he still remains at large.
The complainant confirmed that that suspect who was apprehended was one of the men who robbed him of his backpack containing his Samsung A05 cellphone, wallet, bank cards and R50 cash.
The robber is believed to be linked to multiple robberies where pedestrians were robbed at knifepoint in the Central Business District.
The 24 year old was detained at SAPS Verulam.
