A man has been killed after he was driven over by a pneumatic roller on Inanda road near Hillcrest, Kwazulu Natal, earlier this evening.
ER24 paramedics responded to the construction site to find a large crowd grouped around the roller. On closer inspection, paramedics found a man motionless underneath the heavy vehicle.
Paramedics crawled underneath the vehicle to determine the patient’s condition. Once they [the paramedics] were near the patient, they found him in a critical condition, with his vital signs diminishing quickly.
After the vehicle was successfully removed, no signs of life were present. Paramedics performed CPR for some time, but were unable to obtain any signs of life. The patient was later declared dead.
The cause of the incident was unknown and local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
