We are proud to have police officials who are prepared to risk their lives for the safety of the community they serve.
Warrant Officers D. Govender and N.N. Moodley were both awarded the Commendation medal by the Minister of Police for going beyond the call of duty. These officers risked their life to save a member of the Durban community from drowning.
The officers received a call about a man harassing people along the beach promenade. On arrival at the scene, the man ran towards the sea and was soon completely submerged under the water. The members, without hesitation entered the water to rescue him. We applaud the exceptional way in which they performed their duties.
