Twelve people were injured after a taxi collided into a tree along Willingdon road Kloof this morning. Reports from the scene indicate that the taxi collided with another vehicle while overtaking, then veered off the roadway and came to rest against a tree trapping the front passenger.
Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit arrived at the scene and found one person trapped in the twisted frame while eleven others was lying on the verge at the side of the road. While the Netcare rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to free the injured medics clambered into the wreckage to stabilise them.
After the injured were treated at the scene medics transported them to various hospitals for the care that they required.
