A 10-year-old boy drowned at a municipal pool in Ficksburg earlier today.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and continued CPR which was initiated by lifeguards. They tried to resuscitate him for about half an hour but unfortunately the boy died.
It is understood the boy was swimming among other children. A child later noticed something at the bottom of the shallow end of the pool.
Lifeguards were alerted and they went into the pool later surfacing with the body of the 10-year-old.
Local authorities were on scene. The cause of the incident is unknown.
